Telecom Namibia Empowers Youth through Brand Activation Partnership

With the motive to empower jobless youth in Namibia, Telecom Namibia together with the national Youth Council of Namibia and Young Designers Advertising has embarked on a Brand Activation partnership.
The partnership was officially launched by the Deputy Minister of Youth, National Service, Sports and Culture, Pohamba Shifeta at a joint media conference in Windhoek today (12 November 2010).
Brand activation is a consumer connect programme which aims to engage the consumers, create brand awareness, attract new customers and give live demos to audiences, especially of our new portfolio of broadband products, in order to drive adoption of Internet as a very powerful and indispensable tool for personal, community and national upliftment.
Managing Director of Telecom Namibia Frans Ndoroma says the objective of this programme is to get as much young people involved.
“Our primary aim is to encourage young people to take part in this programme and if many of them get involved it will simply mean win-win for everyone – Telecom Namibia, MYC, YDA and the youths involved in the brand activation.”
He said the main target is not only to increase sales and stimulate brand penetration but also to engage and ensure an income for unemployed youths.
In view of the high unemployment rate in the country especially amongst the youth, the latest initiative is seen by all partners as economic empowerment for many jobless young people in the country.
Deputy Minister Shifeta commended Telecom Namibia for taking the bull by the horns in addressing youth unemployment through the partnership.
“Let me thanks the partners for this undertaking. We all have to do something otherwise we are going to face a problem. Unemployment is a challenge for all of us as a nation and we have to make sure through initiatives like this one that we bring them into the mainstream of the economy,” said the deputy Minister.
